Final Self-Assessment

1. What was your favourite activity/assignment in the course?
Probably one of the Blender courses like the mushroom or game level because it used a bunch of different things to make something that looked similar to an actual game. I learned a lot from it and it was easy to make personal modifications.

2. What is something specific you learned in this course?
3D modelling, really basic coding, animation, patience lol

3. What is something you found challenging in this course?
Trying to fix parts where I came across difficult instructions like in Kodu Pac-man it took me forever to finish because of the weird coding system. Also in Blender for the character model some of the tools wouldn't do what it was supposed to and I basically had to fix things by had, vertex by vertex. It wasn't hard after I got the hang of it but it still took awhile.

4. How do you solve your problems when you are stuck or don't understand something in this course?
I would ask Mr. Strudwick most of the time or whoever is beside me but sometimes I'd go to google or try to solve it myself. Either way it all worked out.

5. What letter grade do you think you earned for term 3?
I think an A because I mean I finished everything that was necessary and put effort into it I guess

6. What letter grade do you think you earned for the whole course?
Well considering what I got in the previous two terms I assume the final grade would be an A because well...that's the average....

7. Are you happy with your work habits and progress in this course?
I'm pretty satisfied because I did finish on time although I might have gotten distracted a few times we had a lot of time and I progressed fine.

8. What is something you could improve about your work in this course?
Maybe try to find more ways to be creative with the projects and finish faster.

9. Any suggestions for the course or teacher for next year?
I guess do more tutorials and show us more projects we can do but that's it.

GameMaker - Asteroids

Game Link

When going through each part of the game, I didn't really have much difficulty because it was just copying what was supposed to be done. Everything had to be done precisely otherwise the game wouldn't work. If I ever missed something I'd have to go back and find what was missing from the code. It was pretty simple to follow, the most difficult part was probably watching every video and staying focused because they were so long and had many parts.

As or game modifications, I only changed the sprites a bit and made it so more asteroids would spawn. I had a bit of trouble here because at first I tried to make it so you could gain an extra life at certain milestones.Once I did that though the game kept crashing. I don't know if it was because of the asteroids spawning plus the live adding but I changed both and ended up removing the life thing completely. I think the game can already go on for a long time without it. There was really nothing else I added because I felt like it could take longer than the time I had and working outside of the instructions could create issues I wouldn't know how to solve myself.
